Archaeology: Humans and the Environment
On this journey where we will trace the cultural footprints of humanity, our first stop is climate; we will explore glaciers, global warming, and human interactions up to the Anthropocene Age. At the second stop, we will discuss how the responses of early humans—who stood upright on two legs—gradually led to settled life. Our third stop addresses humanity’s unchanging problem: "The Struggle for Food"—12 million years, five stages, same outcome.
As we move toward our fourth stop, we will discuss the development of civilization from villages to cities and from authority to kingship. Ultimately, we will analyze how the global impact of Rome, which transformed from a republic into an empire, was only possible through peace—interpreted through the lens of stone craftsmanship and art. Finally, at our fifth and last stop, we will examine how the Küçük Menderes Basin, under different administrations, has served as a source of wealth when properly managed, supported by material culture evidence.
In short, guided by archaeological data, we invite everyone to discuss how societies that live in harmony with climate and the environment, are aware of their own capacities, believe in peace, and apply scientific methods can create prosperous, healthy, and happy generations.
