During the Neolithic Period, radical changes and transformations took place in many aspects of prehistoric life. Perhaps the most significant of these was the domestication of cereals, which led to major changes in food production. During this transformative period, cereal-based foods such as oat porridge and soupy dishes began to be prepared, necessitating the use of spoons for eating. Spoons, which are among the most commonly found archaeological artifacts worldwide, have been uncovered in many Neolithic settlements across Anatolia.
Spoons in Anatolian Neolithic Culinary Culture aims to examine the use, regional distribution, and density of spoons in the Anatolian Neolithic period. From a typological perspective, it focuses on the development of spoons over a long period and their cultural context.
